The President of India Pratibha Devisingh Patil and His Highness Dr Sheikh Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, UAE Supreme Council member and Ruler of Sharjah, have inaugurated the Indian Trade Exhibition Centre at the Sharjah Expo centre.
The 20,000-square-foot centre is planned to promote trade exchange between India, the UAE in general and Sharjah in particular.
Earlier, Chairman of Sharjah Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SCCI) Hussain Al Mahmoudi, in a press conference, said the UAE and India managed to minimise the consequences of the global financial crisis and create an attractive climate for investments.
According to recent reports, non-oil trade exchange between the UAE and India is expected to reach Dh120 billion by the end of 2010, up from Dh75bn in 2009.
UAE direct investments in India represent 2.4 per cent of India's total FDI inflows while Indian investments account for 7 per cent of the FDI in the UAE.
