Colombo: Sri Lankan Police has busted an organised crime gang led by a woman, whose alleged practises will put to shame seasoned godfathers of the underworld.
According to a report in ‘Sunday Times’, she has beaten out limbs of men, has been involved in territorial wars with drug peddlers, pimps and managed sex workers including men in Colombo.
The gang was spread across the city and worked out of night clubs and casinos. In a sting operation, the protagonist along with her aides was arrest from a place in Marine Drive, Kollupitiya last week.
They reportedly run a mafia-style organisation supplying women to punters and customers frequenting night clubs and casinos while preventing others from operating in the city.
It is alleged that they had violated the victims with poles earlier and subsequently told them to lie prostrate on the road on the isolated locations in Marine Drive. And she would run a vehicle over their selected limbs, police said.
Police investigations have revealed that a fee ranging from Rs25,000 to Rs50,000 (Dh702 toDh1,405) would be charged for each sex worker, including male workers.
The gang has been remanded in police custody.
