Maldivian student held with 60gms of heroin

A student from Maldives, doing a  management course at a private institution in Colombo and involved in an international heroin smuggling racket, had been arrested by a special police team, the ‘Asian Mirror’ reported on Monday.

The Maldivian student had been staying in Sri Lanka for the past three years even after the end of his studies. He had 60gms of heroin in his possession when he was arrested.

The suspect used to fly to India on tourist visa once in a few months and used to bring heroin concealed in condoms which he had swallowed.

He has been distributing part of the heroin in Sri Lanka  and take the rest to Maldives.

Police investigations are continuing.
