The Ministry of Justice's electronic case filing system registered 3,421 cases across the nation since it was launched in August 2011, a senior ministry official has disclosed.

Mohammed bin Hamad Al Badi, Undersecretary of Ministry of Justice, said more than 266 lawyers used the online service to process 3,421 cases.

He noted that last month saw the first transaction of levying fees of a challenge presented to the Federal Supreme Court through the ministry e-payment portal.
Launched as part of the ministry's e-justice programme, the service, the first of its kind in the Middle East, enables online filing of cases through the website from any place at any time for all types of civil and Sharia cases in different levels of litigation.

This includes starting from the Court of First Instance all the way to appeals in the Supreme Court, with the possibility of attaching the required documents, this service also allows follow up of case status and knowing the result of its hearings.
