Video: Couple walks in front of train together

Published

A New York couple married for 42 years walked in front of a train and ended their life together.

Earl and Mary Myatt first met when they were 17 years old, according to syracuse.com.

When Mary Myatt suffered a brain aneurysm four months ago, she lost the ability to care for herself and Earl could not bear to see her suffer.

The couple drove to a railway track and Earl called his son and told him he 'loved him' and he was 'sorry'. Mary also spoke briefly to her son.

Railway officials said that CCTV footage shows the couple, both 59 years old,  ignoring a warning horn  from an oncoming freight train.

Their son was quoted as saying his mom was his father’s world.
