Colombia jails US man over child porn

Colombia's supreme court has sentenced a US man to nine years in prison over a hoard of child pornography found during a raid on his apartment north of the capital.

The court said late Thursday that it had reduced Ralph Paladino's sentence from 15 years because, while he had a large supply of pictures of child pornography, there was no evidence he had solicited sex from minors.

The court reduced his fine from $118,000 to around $15,000, and said he would be expelled from the country after serving his sentence.

Police raided Paladino's apartment in January 2006.

The Colombian government has not released Paladino's age, but has said he had a false Colombian ID.
