Living in an 89-square-feet 'shoebox' home

People who live in so-called "show-box" studio apartments, don't despair. They just dwell happily with some creative changes in their abode. "You can maximise your space and make it a perfectly livable home," says Jay Shafer who takes the views on a tour of his 89-square-foot home on wheels parked in Sebastapol, California, in the video below.

Shafer constructs as well as designs small houses ranging from 65 to 837 square feet for his Tumbleweed Tiny House Company. He also lives in his small creations.

The size of houses are shrinking in the US. According to faircompanies.com, after doubling in size since 1960, the national average dropped for the first time in nearly 15 years (by 9%, the size of an average room).
