Underage honeymoon couple found in cave

Colombo: A young couple who spent their honeymoon in a cave, was arrested on Saturday morning by Katuwana police which said that they were hiding in the cave in the Hulankanda forest in Hambantota in the southern province, daily Mirror reported.

During their five-day stay in the cave, the boy’s father had provided food and other supplies.

It was revealed that both of them are under aged, the boy being 17 and the girl 15.

The police who started investigations into the incident, after the girl’s parents lodged a complaint that their daughter had gone missing for many days, found the young couple in the cave.

Man sentenced for selling photos of underage girl

Colombo: A person, who was found guilty of photographing naked pictures of an underage girl and keeping them for sale, was sentenced to 2 years jail term with hard labour and fined Rs200, 000 by the Kalutara High Court Judge Amal Thilakaratne, according to the reports in the ‘Mirror’.

The judge also ordered a 12 month jail term if the fine is not paid while the 2 year jail term was yielded for 20 years under probation.

The suspect who has been identified as Kandapola Wahumpurage Somasiri, is aged 35 and a father of two.

He was charged by the Attorney General for taking an underage girl to a hotel and taking her naked pictures.
