A World War II veteran from Utah state in USA is reliving the triumphs and horrors of his service overseas after mysteriously receiving seven service medals.
Ninety-three-year old Tom Harrison says a package arrived earlier this month with the medals but no explanation.
Harrison says he never applied for the medals after his discharge from the Army in 1945 because he wanted to put the war behind him and focus on his family and career.
Harrison survived the Bataan Death March and more than three years in a Japanese prisoner of war camp.
Retired 1st Sgt. Dennis Meeks, who works for a South Carolina-based medal supplier, says many veterans received ribbons but not medals when they were discharged. Many times, the medals are requested decades later by family members.
