A Chinese lingerie maker has used a lookalike of the late Diana, Princess of Wales, to advertise underwear through giant billboards across the country.

The marketing campaign, that has already created murmurs of discontent, coincides with the 13th death anniversary of Diana who died in a car crash in Paris.

The lingerie is advertised under the slogan "Feel the romance of British royalty" with the model wearing a tiara, necklace, blue bra and knickers playing a cello to a child, reports Sky News.

While Britan has imposed restrictions on commercial use of the name or image of the late princess, it is powerless to act against companies abroad.

Diana and her boyfriend died in the August 31, 1997 car crash in a Paris tunnel.
