Arsenal's hitman Robin van Persie is a target of Real Madrid, according to The Mirror.

The Spanish giants are aware that contract talks between the 28-year-old striker and Arsenal have stalled.

If he does not agree a new deal by the end of the season, Arsenal will have to let him go for free.

Manchester City have also placed Van Persie at the top of their wish list and they could offer him a staggering £250,000-a-week.

The Arsenal skipper has been in terrific form this season being the leading goal scorer in the Premier League.

His 33rd league goal against Everton lifted Arsenal to the top four for the first time this season - a stunning turn around for a club which got mauled 8-2 by Manchester United at the beginning.

The Dutchman was disillusioned after the exits of stars Cesc Fabregas and Samir Nasri but has almost single-handedly inspired Arsenal who celebrated their 125th anniversary last weekend.
