Ras Al Khaimah Free Trade Zone (RAK FTZ) is exploring to attract investments from India.

The free zone authorities will visit Chennai in India to identify potential investors, particularly from among the SME sector to explain how, with an initial investment of only Rs230,000 (Dh 18,400), they can set up an office in the UAE.

The official trade team from the free zone's Mumbai liaison office will hold interactive sessions and consultative meetings with potential investors in Chennai from August 18 to 20.

The RAK FTZ team will welcome businessmen, entrepreneurs and potential investors with full information on how they can expand their business operations in the Middle East. The free zone provides quality service for a wide variety of businesses, especially SMEs and recognises that with the burgeoning business and entrepreneurial spirit within India, the Indian market holds a huge potential, said a press release.

“Our target is to increase registrations by 15 per cent by the end of the year. We are also focusing on providing more value added services for our clients with the launch of our Mazeed Services. Chennai, as a region, presents huge potential, with a large number of SMEs operating in different sectors, which want to expand overseas,” said Oussama El Omari, CEO of RAK FTZ.

"Our mission is to attract and maximise the growth of value-added, know-how-based, technologically-advanced and innovative businesses in Ras Al Khaimah and to help UAE companies expand via a global office network," El Omari said.
