Akshay’s magical spell sinks Al Ain

Spinner Akshay Kalyan grabbed a hat-trick as G Force Academy defeated Al Ain Sportsplex Academy by nine wickets in the opening match of the Cricket For Care Under-15 Inter-Academy Tournament at The Sevens cricket ground in the tournament conducted by Dubai Cricket Council and sponsored by Shyam Bhatia.

Nothing went right for the Al Ain team except for winning the toss and electing to bat first as everything then went wrong being bowled out for a meagre 66 runs in 18.4 overs.

G Force opening bowlers Ram Narayan and Aditya Mohan picked up the top order and then Akshay bowled a mesmerising spell to have the rest of the Al Ain batsmen tied up in a knot.

Akshay’s hat-trick came in the twelfth over of the day and his second when he had three of the batsmen stumped as they tried to hit him out of the ground to finish with a rich haul of five for 28.

Alan (17) was the mainstay for the Al Ain team as he batted for 25 balls and hit two fours to keep his team’s hopes alive while Zeerak (15) and Mohammed Ali (16) also brought some respectability to the Al Ain innings.

G Force opener Ajaneya then made short work of the Al Ain Sportsplex target by slamming a rapid fire knock of 36 runs in 21 balls including four boundaries while Srijith played the perfect foil making a brisk 17 off 12 balls as the pair rattled off the target in 7.4 overs to give G Force Academy a thumping win.
