Fayyaz Ahmed produced a superb all-round performance, but his efforts failed to prevent Ibsons CC suffering a 24-run defeat against Gyan Steel in the second Al Dhaid Ramadan T20 tournament, organised by the Sharjah Cricket Council, for the Conmix Cup at Al Dhaid Cricket Village.
Gyan Steel, batting first, did well to post a challenging 162 for eight despite a incisive spell from Fayyaz, who had a rich haul of five for 25.
Haris Khan held the innings together, scoring a fine 44 off 32 balls with three fours and two sixes. Kashif Khan (38 off 30 balls with five fours) further consolidated the gains, while Haroon Rashid (29 off 14 balls with five fours) and Ansar Butt (26 off 15 balls with three fours and two sixes) ended the innings with a flourish.
Ibsons Group, in reply, were bowled out for 138 in the 19th over with Amir Jafar and Amir Mirza doing most of the damage by snaring three wickets each.
Umar (28 off 22 balls), Khurram (27 off 17 balls) and Fayyaz (24 off 16 balls) batted well, but they all failed to convert their good starts into a big innings needed to overhaul the Gyan Steel total.
