Sri Lankan skipper Kumar Sangakkara completed a double century on Tuesday as he led the team to 457-2 at lunch on the second day of the second Test against India.

Sangakkara was on 214 with Mahela Jayawardena on 71.

Resuming batting from an overnight score of 312-1, the Sri Lankan batsmen cruised along thanks to some poor bowling and the placid pitch that didn't aid any movement or bounce off the deck.

India managed an early success in getting the wicket of the other century-maker T Paranavitana (100).

Taking from where they left on Monday, the Sri Lankan batsmen scored almost at will on a placid pitch that had nothing in it for the bowlers.

The poor quality of Indian bowling was only a bonus.
