Tiwary to replace Sharma in India ODI squad

India has named middle-order batsman Manoj Tiwary to replace the injured Rohit Sharma for the remainder of the five-game one-day series in England.

The Board of Control for Cricket in India said on Monday that Tiwary would "join the team at the earliest."

Sharma injured his right index finger during the first game at Durham, which was washed out, and has been ruled out of the remaining four games.

The 25-year-old Tiwary has scored only 26 runs over three previous one-dayers but was in form during an emerging players tournament in Australia last month when he scored 188 in a three-day game against New Zealand.

The second one-dayer between India and England will be held at Southampton on Tuesday.
