President His Highness Shaikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan has ordered a total grant of Dh14 million to the UAE national senior and junior football teams in recognition of their achievements in the international arena.
A grant of Dh10 million was given for the players in the national Olympic team and its technical and administrative staff in recognition of their silver medal at the 16th Asian Games held in Guangzhou City, China.
The President also ordered another grant Dh4 million for the national junior team, their coaches and administrative staff as recognition triumph in the 7th Gulf championship held recently in Kuwait.
The President’s grants reflected his keenness to support the sports and sportspersons in the country.
The UAE Football Association chairman Mohammed Khalfan Al Rumaithi and the board members thanked His Highness the President said it reflected Shaikh Khalifa’s support to his sons.
“This appreciation is a great motivation for the players to do better and we are working hard to live up to the expectations and the responsibility which we have shouldered,” he said.
Al Rumaithi congratulated the sports sector on the occasion of the precious gift and urged them to continue their hard work to fly the flag of the nation in all sports events.
“In the name of all sportsmen and youths, we promise President His Highness Shaikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, God preserve him, and our wise leadership to make every move to achieve our targets and claim more titles and championships. We will also work to develop the elements of the game and provide all assistance to help the youth to execute the programmes along with making available all elements of success for a bright future of the UAE football,” he said.
