The International Federation of Association Football (FIFA) announced on Wednesday that the 2030 World Cup will be held in Morocco, Spain and Portugal, while the first three matches will be held in Uruguay, Argentina and Paraguay to celebrate the centenary of the competition.
The joint bid from Morocco, Portugal and Spain was the only bid to host the tournament.
The World Cup was held for the first time in 1930 in Uruguay, and the hosts succeeded in winning the title.
In the same context, King Mohammed VI announced to the Moroccan people, a short while ago, through a statement from the Royal Court, “that the FIFA Executive Committee has unanimously decided to choose the Morocco-Spain-Portugal bid as the sole candidate to host the 2030 FIFA World Cup,” according to Hesperis newspaper.
He added: "This decision by the FIFA Executive Committee is considered a tribute and recognition of Morocco's distinguished position among major nations."
