Tevez escaped Sneijder swap deal with Inter

Carlos Tevez could have a long-term future at Manchester City, according to his advisor Kia Joorabchian.

Tevez, 27, has now been joined in Manchester by his wife and Joorabchian sees that as a significant development.

He was quoted in the Sun as saying: "There were a couple of offers in for him but obviously he is an important player for City and they won't let him go for any price. But at the end of the day — as Carlos said at the end of the season — professionally, he is happy at the club. He is happy in the situation, it was more to do with his family really. He has managed to convince his wife to come over for a while at least.”

Joorabchian revealed a swap deal involving Inter star Wesley Sneijder was considered but City's successful pursuit of Arsenal's Samir Nasri put an end to that.

He added: "After they had signed Nasri they had too many players in that position."

The Argentina forward has been forced to remain at Eastlands until at least January after a move away from the club failed to materialise during the summer transfer window.

Tevez, City's top scorer and talisman last season, said he would never return to Manchester, not even on holiday, as he tried to force the big spenders to sell him.

He claimed a desire to move nearer to his wife and daughters in Argentina as his chief reason.
