Dubai Electricity & Water Authority (Dewa) won the 3,000m road race team competition at the Sheikha Hind Women’s Sports Tournament on Friday.
The tournament was organised by the Dubai Sports Council as per the directives of Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, the Crown Prince of Dubai and Chairman of DSC, and under the patronage of Sheikha Hind bint Maktoum bin Juma Al Maktoum, the wife of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, the Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai.
Dubai Woman’s Authority achieved second place followed by RTA.
In the individual category, Nada Saleh of the Knowledge & Human Development Authority gained first place clocking 14:49.42 minutes, followed by Soaad Abdulla (16:00.00) and Nada Khalid (17:07.55) both of Dewa.
The road race competition attracted 80 participants and was officiated by experienced referees from the UAE Athletic Association.
“I am so pleased to get the title of this competition. The Organising Committee presented all necessities to ensure success of the event and provided us with valuable advice to avoid mistakes and injuries,” said Nada Saleh.
Fatima Al Abdouli, Coordinator of Dewa, remarked: “We are pleased to win the title of the road race competition of Sheikha Hind Women’s Sports Tournament."
Fawziya Fraidoon, Manager of Cultural Activities Section in DSC, Member of the Woman’s Sports Committee and Director of the Tournament, said the Organising Committee has allocated valuable awards to be presented among the tournament’s attendees through daily draws.
