Kuwaiti driver Khaled Al Mudhaf can’t wait for his debut in the Porsche GT3 Cup Challenge Middle East in Abu Dhabi on Saturday, and he’s tipping Sebastian Vettel to clinch the Formula One world title at Yas Marina Circuit 24 hours later.
Al Mudhaf is making no predictions about his own chances when the Porsche one-make series launches its 2010-11 season as the official support races this weekend for the Etihad Airways F1 Abu Dhabi Grand Prix.
But he is confident that Vettel will claim the F1 crown on Sunday, and that next year will see a return to prominence for seven-times world champion Michael Schumacher.
“Vettel will win the drivers title,” said Al Mudhaf. “He has a hunger like no-one else. I think he is the best driver on the grid – but only after the legendary Michal Schumacher who I think next year will shock the world and prove that he still has it.”
Aiming for a flying start to the Porsche GT3 Cup title race on home ground, Abu Dhabi’s Khaled Al Qubaisi picks Fernando Alonso as the next F1 world champion “because he is the least under pressure.”
Saudi Arabia’s Prince
Abdulaziz Al Faisal, who starts the defence of his Porsche title in Abu Dhabi, predicts an F1 triumph for Mark Webber.
Meanwhile Al Mudhaf, the first Kuwaiti driver to enter the Porsche GT3 Cup Challenge Middle East, looks to build on his race series debut in last season’s UAE GT Championship where he recorded one pole position and a third place finish in six events.
