Dubai Police reunites a prisoner with his daughter after 6 years of separation

The General Directorate of Correctional and Rehabilitation Institutions of Dubai Police fulfilled the wish of a young woman to see her imprisoned father in the Central Prison on her birthday, after 6 years of separation.

Colonel Marwan Abdul Karim Jalfar, Director of the General Directorate of Correctional and Rehabilitation Institutions, explained that Dubai Police received a call from the girl after her arrival in the country, asking to see her father on her birthday, especially since she had not seen him since he left their country 6 years ago, leaving her with her mother and siblings in search of work, but he was later involved in financial cases.

The colonel added that the reception of visits from the families of inmates has been suspended since the pandemic, and the reliance has been on video communication between inmates and their families, especially since this method enables inmates to communicate whether their families are inside or outside the state, and it is also a more safe preventive health measure to preserve the prison environment clean and free of diseases.

The colonel confirmed that Dubai Police is keen to meet all requests received from inmates and their families in accordance with the law, pointing out that humanitarian initiatives are an integral part of the work of the General Directorate, as they have a great positive impact on the psychological health of the inmate, and push him to make better choices in the rehabilitation, training and professional aspects, in preparation for integration into society in the future.

For his part, Captain Abdullah Ahli, Acting Director of the Central Prison Administration, said that the administration surprised the inmate with the visit, after arranging the meeting in accordance with the health and security requirements in this field, adding "The inmate left his country and family, and came to Dubai to work, but he was involved in financial cases and imprisoned as a result, and he had not seen his daughter since that time, but she recently came to the United Arab Emirates with her family, and contacted Dubai Police, asking to meet her father and see him on her birthday, and we hid this visit from the father, to be surprised by the presence of his daughter in the place, and by the arrangements that the Central Prison implemented to celebrate her daughter's birthday."

The inmate and his family thanked and appreciated Dubai Police for their interest and quick response, and for all the efforts made by the officers, men and women, to enable them to meet after all these years.
