Bottled water turns into ice in Saudi freezing weather

Saudi Arabia this week suffered one of its coldest winter periods after temperatures dipped below zero in some areas to dispel the impression that the Muslim Gulf Kingdom is a mere hot oil-rich desert.

In the northern highlands and other parts of the largest Arab country, temperatures were reported to have reached -7 centigrade following a cold spell that swept most regional states.

The cold snap in the world’s oil superpower was documented in the following YouTube film showing water in a bottle instantly turned into ice as a Saudi man tried to pour the water out. Newspapers said the film was shot in the central province of Al Qasseem.
